Bio

Based out of the Lehigh Valley, Fig for a Kiss is an acoustic, Irish Folk band with a unique blend of Celtic and Contemporary influences.

 

Seth Baliles

Vocals, Guitar, Concertina

Seth Baliles is a local craftsman, musician, and theatre tech. Seth started his musical career at the age of 9 when he bought his first guitar on Ebay. since then he has been primarily self-taught and has played many different genres (Rock, Metal, Folk, Blues, etc.) as well as playing with local-born songwriter and musician Justin Leigh Walters before settling on Celtic Music.

He developed a love for Celtic music in early life but has only been performing as a Celtic Guitarist since 2012 when he met Lucas Mitsch and Casey McGinty at Eastern University where he was studying another of his passions, Literature. Deciding he no longer wanted to pursue a life as an English teacher, he left school and got a job working at Martin Guitar in Nazareth, PA. When he is not helping to build guitars or performing with Fig for a Kiss, he can often be found crafting specialty props and special effects for local theatres. His work can often be seen on stage at DCP theatre in Telford.

Addyson Teal

Vocals, Fiddle

Addyson began her fiddling journey at the wee age of 9. She grew up competing in both the Celtic Classic Fiddle Competition and Lyons Fiddle Festival and has studied with Alison Gillespie, Martin Hayes, and Brian Conway. In College she expanded her singing education with both the Temple University Women’s Choir and Temple’s R&B A Capella group and during the spring of 2020 she decided to pick up the Bodhran.

When Addyson’s not making music she directs and produces comedy shows such as “A Golden Girls Drag Show”, “Lip Sync Battle”, and “I’m Probably Reading Into This”, the latter being a game show that she devised and hosts. You can also see her onstage as the co-host of “Improvised Standup” at the ArtsQuest Center or with her improv team Synced Up.

Lucas Mitsch

Vocals, Pipes, Whistles, ETC.

Lucas Mitsch composes for and performs on a wide variety of traditional instruments including the Great Highland Bagpipe, Scottish smallpipes, Scottish border pipes, tin whistles, bodhran, and hurdy gurdy. He has provided opening music for world renowned traditional bands including the Tannahill Weavers and the Chieftains. Currently, he serves on the board of the Pipers' Gathering, the largest alternative piping event in North America.

Casey McGinty

Vocals, Fiddle

Casey McGinty is a Lehigh Valley native, where she currently resides as an actor and musician. She has appeared locally in improvisational pieces such as “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” and Oktoberfest. Casey graduated from Eastern University, where she frequently directed, acted in, and devised original plays. In addition to Fig for a Kiss, she previously played with The Bovine Social Club. She recently finished a regional tour with the band Bovine Social Club, performing the songs and poetry of Tom Waits in Americana Style.

Casey is currently continuing her education in London.
